UNSEARCHABLE: HOW THE GREATNESS OF GOD CHANGES EVERYTHING

THE SOVEREIGNTY OF GOD

ISAIAH 46:4-13

“All the universe is but a theatre to display the glory of God.” – John Calvin

  1. HIS MAJESTY IS UNTAINTED

“With whom will you compare me or count me equal? To whom will you liken me that we may be compared?” Isaiah 46:5

“Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me.” Isaiah 46:9

“Who among the gods is like you, Lord? Who is like you—majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders?” Exodus 15:11

“The Lord reigns for ever and ever.” Exodus 15:18

  1. HIS RULE AND AUTHORITY IS UNMATCHED

“To whom will you compare me? Or who is my equal?” says the Holy One. Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one and calls forth each of them by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.” Isaiah 40:25-26

“Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.” Matthew 10:29

  1. HIS WILL AND PURPOSES ARE UNHINDERED

“I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say, ‘My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.’ From the east I summon a bird of prey; from a far-off land, a man to fulfill my purpose. What I have said, that I will bring about; what I have planned, that I will do.”   Isaiah 46:10-11

“There’s not one maverick molecule in the universe.” – RC Sproul

“The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from the Lord.” Proverbs 16:33

“The king’s heart is like a stream of water directed by the Lord; he guides it wherever he pleases.” Proverbs 21:1

“Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.” Matthew 10:29

  1. MY RESPONSE IS A LIFE OF WORSHIP

“Shout for joy in the Lord, O you righteous! Praise befits the upright. Give thanks to the Lord with the lyre; make melody to him with the harp of ten strings! Sing to him a new song; play skillfully on the strings, with loud shouts.” Psalm 33:1

“Men will allow God to be everywhere but on his throne. They will allow him to be in his workshop to fashion worlds and make stars. They will allow Him to be in His almonry to dispense His alms and bestow his bounties. they will allow Him to sustain the earth and bear up the pillars thereof, or light the lamps of heaven, or rule the waves of the ever-moving ocean; but when God ascends His throne, His creatures then gnash their teeth. And we proclaim an enthroned God, and His right to do as He wills with His own, to dispose of His creatures as He thinks well, without consulting them in the matter; then it is that we are hissed and execrated, and then it is that men turn a deaf ear to us, for God on His throne is not the God they love. But it is God upon the throne that we love to preach. It is God upon His throne whom we trust.” – Charles Haddon Spurgeon
