KEEP STEADY
SCRIPTURE: James 1:1-15
1: We will have trials… God is with us.
SCRIPTURE: James 1:2
- Trials are a part of life for both Christians and non-Christians (Jesus, Peter, Paul) – see scriptures.
- This revelation helps prepare us for our response (God is with us, He is in control, eternity is sealed with Him)
- In this life… we are always searching for something steady… stable relationship, marriage, job, home life… God is the only one that is always steady.
Hear me this morning… God is our steady ground. He is our rock and our refuge.
2: We will grow from trials… God is with us.
SCRIPTURE: James 1:3–8
- Trials produce endurance (endurance isn’t the final goal… maturity and wholeness in Christ)
- Our response matters (reveals our heart)
Hear me this morning… God is our steady ground. He is our rock and our refuge.
3: We will overcome … even in 2022… because God is with us.
SCRIPTURE: James 1: 12-18
It’s fitting that out of the Christmas season… where we discussed “Emmanuel – God is with us.” That we can be reminded that in 2022, God is with us.
- God is with us.
- His strength, not ours.
Hear me this morning… God is our steady ground. He is our rock and our refuge.
Conclusion:
Scripture: James 1:19-25
We will all face seasons of suffering–believers and unbelievers. Yet, none of us will experience the full weight of suffering as Jesus experienced it. He experienced suffering so that He could ultimately redeem our suffering. Through Christ, suffering can actually become a means to joy.
