HOW TO STORM PROOF MY FINANCES
MATTHEW 6:19-24
STEP 1: PUT GOD FIRST IN MY FINANCES.
‘No one can serve two masters… You cannot serve both God and money.’ Matthew 6:24
“So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Matthew 6:31-34
“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it. I will prevent pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in your fields will not drop their fruit before it is ripe,” says the Lord Almighty.” Malachi 3:10-11
STEP 2: REQUIRE ALL DECISIONS TO PASS THE WISDOM TEST
“But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.” Matthew 6:20
STEP 3: PLAN AHEAD FOR A CRISIS
“Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise! It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provision in summer and gathers its food at harvest.” Proverbs 6:6-8
“Dishonest money dwindles away, but whoever gathers money little by little makes it grow.” Proverbs 13:11
STEP 4: REPLACE ENVY WITH THANKSGIVING
“For where your treasure is, there you heart will be also.” Matthew 6:21
