Resurrection Sunday
Revelation 1:12-18
- JESUS IS: LORD OF ALL
“And when I turned I saw… someone like a son of man.” Revelation 1:12-13
“The people who hanged Christ never, to do them justice, accused him of being a bore – on the contrary, they thought him too dynamic to be safe. It has been left for later generations to muffle up that shattering personality and surround him with an atmosphere of tedium. We have efficiently pared the claws of the Lion of Judah, certified him ‘meek and mild’ and recommended him as a fitting household pet for pale curates and pious old ladies.” ~ Dorothy Sayers (English Novelist and Poet)
- JESUS SAYS: DO NOT BE AFRAID
“When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: ‘Do not be afraid.’” Revelation 1:17
“The angel said to the women, ‘Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.’” Matthew 28:5-6
“‘Fear not!’ is a great encouragement for any child of God. We need not fear life, because He is ‘The Living One.’ We need not fear death, because He died and is alive, having conquered death. And we need not fear eternity because He holds the keys of Hades (the world of the dead) and of death. The One with the keys is the One who has authority.” ~ Warren Wiersbe
- JESUS HAS: OVERCOME ALL THINGS EVEN DEATH
“I am the First and the Last. I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.” Revelation 1:17-18
RESPONSE:
Have you surrendered to Christ?
This Easter Jesus is calling to you:
I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.
- He holds all things in His hands.
- He has forgiveness of sins.
- He has newness of life.
- He has eternal life.
- He promises the fulfillment of all things.
TWO THINGS ARE REQUIRED: FAITH AND REPENTANCE.
He brings the grace; we bring the repentance.
