Lessons from a Non-Handy Father

Philippians 2:12-13 Dear friends, you always followed my instructions when I was with you. And now that I am away, it is even more important. Work hard to show the results of your salvation, obeying God with deep reverence and fear. For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.

1.   God Wants Us To Grow

Romans 5:3-5 We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because He has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with His love.

Deuteronomy 1:31: There you saw how the Lord your God carried you, as a father carries his son, all the way you went until you reached this place.

2.   We Earn From Our Earthly Fathers/Father Figures (You Have A Purpose)

Philippians 2:17: But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice and service coming from your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you.

Proverbs 22:6: Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.

Proverbs 1:8: Hear, my son, your father’s instruction, and forsake not your mother’s teaching.

Ephesians 5:1-2: Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children; and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.
